Attendance Policy
1) Student Athletes should take the responsibility to communicate with the head coach when they are unable to attend a practice or meet. Email is preferred method to help keep record of notifications. Email should include the student-athletes name, date of missed practice/meet and reason. [email protected]
2) Student Athletes are expected to make a commitment to the program to attend practice/meets 6 days a week
3) There are excused reasons for missing a practice
-family emergency
-absence from school due to illness
-religious obligations
-additional time needed after school for extra help with a teacher or make up test. If running late to practice, check the schedule and join the workout or run as it as started.
Unexcused absences include:
- out-of-school activities, clubs, private classes or lessons.
- detention
4) If you are unable to attend practice the day before a meet, you will not be able to participate in the next days meet, unless you have spoken to the coach in advance. If you are sick the day before a meet, you will not have recovered enough by the next day in order to compete.
5) When scheduling appointments, please plan in advance to avoid after-school competition schedule. When scheduling vacations and trips with families, please plan in advance to have the student athlete available for the entire schedule of meets during the season.
6) Having an unexcused absence or failing to communicate missing practice will result in a single warning. Additional missed practices will result in removal from the team.
7) Any student-athlete who is injured must be with the trainer for rehabilitation purposes, provided the trainers can supply the necessary services. Failure to do so will result in a warning. Athletes should continue to communicate with the coach missed practices as they rehab and recover.
8) If you know you will miss a competition meet in advance, please communicate that to the coach in advance to help with setting lineups.
These conditions may not allow you to participate in the XC/Track program. Please consider these conditions before starting the season, understanding that this is a major time commitment on your part.
